Allergy Services
We Can Help with Coughing, Wheezing, & Breathing Difficulties
Do you experience allergies or asthma? Symptoms like sinus pain, sore throat, shortness of breath, and others may
make life feel downright unbearable at times. Allergy treatment depends on your symptom severity and health history,
but our on-site allergy doctors in Fulshear and Katy can help you with a variety of treatments designed to bring
quick relief. Our staff is also qualified to provide
pediatric urgent care services to treat allergic reactions for patients 6 months and older.
Allergy Skin Testing
Preferred Urgent Care offers allergy tests that are simple and straightforward to help your
doctor determine which substances cause your allergic reactions, such as pollen, dust, dander, insect stings, and so
on. Understanding your allergy can help you prepare your body and know how to combat the symptoms when you
inevitably face the allergen in the future. To perform an allergy test, the allergen will be gently applied to the
skin and your doctor will wait to see if it causes a skin reaction like a rash or welt.
Allergy Immunotherapy
Your doctor may recommend allergy immunotherapy or allergy shots once your allergens are identified. These shots
contain a very small amount of the offensive allergen and work to condition your body to react less severely to it,
similarly to the way a vaccine works in building immunity. There are 2 phases of immunotherapy, called the buildup
phase and the maintenance phase. These involve increasing the amounts of the allergen over the course of a period of
time until you reach the maintenance phase once an effective therapeutic dose is reached.
